ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, Sept. 5, 2008

Any student interested in working after school as a custodial helper, please pick up an application in central office as soon as possible.

High School Picture Day will be on Monday, Sept. 22nd.  Every student will receive a picture order brochure to take home the week before.

There will be a student council meeting Wednesday, September 10th in Mrs. Lemieux's room at 7:30.  Please be there on time.

Anyone interested in joining jazz choir, we will have a very short meeting today after school in the library.   What is jazz choir?  It's an extra-curricular group open to all high school students that meets one night a week.  We work on jazz, pop and rock charts with an emphasis on performing.  If you can't make the meeting, see Mrs. Yarbrough.

The soccer team defeated Cassopolis last night, 4-1.  Scoring for the Indians were:  Valentin Cordoso-3 goals and Francisco Delarosa with 1 goal.  The Indians’ record is now 4-0-1.  The next game will be against New Buffalo at home next Thursday at 5:00.

The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Saugatuck last night for the first quad of the year.  The ladies lost a tough first match to Saugatuck 18-25, 15-25, and 10-25.    In the second match the Lady Indians defeated Fennville 25-20, 11-25, 17-25, 25-20, & 15-2.   Lindsey Drake led in assists with 22 and 5 blocks. Audrey Traver added 8 kills and 5 blocks.  Kailee Weberg had 3 aces and led in kills with 8.  Brittany Emery led the way in aces with 4.    Gina Kellogg with her special shoes had 11 hits and 3 kills, while Erin Walker added 12 hits and 3 kills.  Leading the way on defense was Melissa Rzeszut with 18 digs, Kaitlin Schaner with 7, and Megan Daisy contributed 4 digs.  The Indians travel to Bloomingdale next Tuesday.

Last night the boys cross country team ran at the Paw Paw Harvest Invitational.  The team performed well, coming home with a 9th place finish in a tough field of 14 schools.  All runners had season best performances.  Leading runners for the Indians were Ian Haubold, Jon Phillips, Joe Baumeister, Brandon Davis and Matt Sells.  The Indians host and run in the Bob Teske Invitational next Wednesday at the county fairgrounds.

The Lady Indians cross country team had a combined 6 season best times from the ladies at the Paw Paw Invitational last night.  The ladies ran great amongst a challenging field which included many Division II schools.  The team would like to wish the football players good luck tonight in their game against Saugatuck! 

A reminder to teachers and staff to please return your gold personnel fact sheet to the office as soon as possible.
