The Hartford Public Schools Foundation for Quality Education was created to compliment and enhance the education opportunities of students attending Hartford Public Schools. By attracting private donations, the Foundation can provide support for the development of enrichment programs and services not normally financed with ever-shrinking school funding. These "educational extras" in the form of annual Scholarships & Grants to Teachers and Students alike, make the critical difference between just a good school system and an excellent one.! Incorporated in 1998 as a 501(c)-3 nonprofit, autonomous, tax-exempt organization, the Foundation is directed by a Board of Trustees; private citizens who serve without compensation. The trustees are committed to generating and distributing financial and other resources to the school district in a equitable manner. Donations to the foundation are tax-deductible. |

Press Release: June 2001
Foundation Awards Scholarships
The Hartford Public Schools Foundation for Quality Education awarded more scholarships in 2011 than any prior year since it’s inception. 12 scholarships totalling $5,000 were awarded to Hartford Seniors, plus an additional 10 direct awards to each of the Top Ten Students of 2011.
Foundation President Garry Unrath commented, “We were able to provide more student support than ever before thanks to record year of fundraising so far. The Foundation has acquired several new trustees that are really dynamic individuals and great fundraisers. By creating some long-term partnerships with Gold Level Sponsors – Hartford Hardings Market, Big C Lumber, Air Tran Airlines, Mann Metal, The Fishing Hole and Never Miss Charters we are able to connect with many businesses, along with a list of individuals and Alumni that are all firmly committed to the goal of quality education. We make no apology to look you straight in the eye and ask you to give us your money to provide more grants and scholarships each year for deserving graduates!”
The Hartford Public Schools Foundation for Quality Education is a 501c-3 non-profit corporation. One hundred percent of proceeds support education related projects in the Hartford School District.
Over $70,000 in Grants and Scholarships have been awarded since inception in 1999. Gifts to the Foudation receive significant tax deductions at both the State and Federal level.
