Renaissance Learning is a computerized program to help reinforce reading and mathematics. 

Students often take either the Star Early Literacy test or Star Reading test depending on their grade and abilities.  This test gives the teacher some indication about what skills or level the student is reading at independently.  Once that is determined the student is then given a reading range that is appropriate for his/her independent reading ability.  The student then selects books within this range to read and ultimately takes a comprehension test on the computer. The student accumulates points towards their individual marking period goal.

Within Renaissance Learning there is a math component.  Star Math assesses the student on their individual math skills and gives the teacher a prescription on what needs to be worked on to move the student to the next level.  Also with in the system is Math in a Flash in a one minute timing on math facts from addition through square roots. 

Renaissance Learning is just one more tool that can be used at home or at school to help students progress with their learning.
